The other day on the net they had about a gay couple being wed. I didn’t really click on the link because my thoughts are it’s a wedding and should be treated as a normal news because gay marriage should be a normal every day occurrence.
The reality however is that it is a extra-ordinary event. So I should have read the article. It shows a great step that they were able to get married and that the marriage was recognized.
My sister-in-law brought up in conversation that she didn’t understand why being gay was a sin. I didn’t say anything because being in the closet, I didn’t want to draw any attention to myself. Someone at the dinner table said being gay isn’t the sin. He interpreted it as a pre-marital sex issue. He further stated that everyone has pre-marital sex so two guys having sex isn’t wrong, just that they weren’t married. Then he said that pre-marital sex being wrong doesn’t stop the heteros from doing it, so no one should be judged.
I should have read the article to see just how far we’ve come. To read about the acceptance and celebration of one couple. Yes, it is a normal event. But yet a great stride for one couple.
