My HumDrum Life

I haven’t written in awhile because really I don’t have a lot to write about. My life can be described as ordinary. I have a partner that loves me. We have our healthy fur babies. We watch our favorite shows on certain nights and drink our favorite wine. We argue about little things and also big things. We apologize differently. I talk his ear off regarding why I’m sorry. He makes me breakfast in bed or buys a bag of my favorite candy (gummy cola bears or Swedish Fish). I am an extrovert, he is an introvert.
When I started this blog so many years ago, I was just coming out of the closet. And I longed for this life. I wanted to be in a relationship. I wanted to sit on the couch and binge watch a series. And I wanted to be out and not have to pretend anymore. This was the life that while closeted I found exciting. This life is now ordinary.

But ordinary is also good! Sounds like you have found who you are and you now have a very comfortable and happy life. My boyfriend and I binged a tv show this weekend, and I was happy that I had someone to do it with.

Ordinary does not equal bad. My life is similar and I’m glad for it. Yes, the occasional plan, trip, or thrill is nice to break up the monotony, but few things satisfy me as much as a night on the couch with hubby and the dogs, watching TV and sipping wine.

Hi John, I was rereading past posts on my own blog (Loose Ends) and came across your comment about how you were just starting the coming out process. On a whim I clicked on your link, to find this very post. What a lovely bit of serendipity to learn, only a few days after you posted it, that you’re living the life you always dreamed of, and have been long enough that you’re almost (but not quite) in danger of taking it for granted. Just wonderful. –Cheers, Patrick

Oh, and if you’re interested, here is the post, and our comments, from back in 2007 (!). http://palacey.blogspot.com/2007/11/anniversary.html

Wow, that seems like decades ago. The vultures in the stomach became butterflies and those butterflies just flew away forever. I can now say I’m gay as simply as saying “got a haircut”. You were right, it got easier with “practice”. And then as the support built around me like a protective wall, the support kept out those who weren’t going to be supportive. My Dad and my partner are “foodie” buddies. My nieces and nephews call him uncle. My siblings adore and love him. And my Mom does too (although she still just calls him my “friend”).

What a journey it has been.

I hope you pick up blogging again. Loved reading your posts.

I stop by regularly hoping you will post again. I was delighted to read you did so – and with good and happy news. I too feel if you just reported on the mundane happy existence we would so love to know.

First, I just saw M54 use the word boyfriend, that was nice to read! Maybe I’m mistaken but I get the feeling you were writing this with a positive attitude and that you are glad you arrived here. We went through the same experience around the same time, I’ve gone the other way, I’m still alone and I can guarantee that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be. “I talk his ear off” lol, some things don’t change. I agree with Dr Spo, we would love to read about your humdrum life.
